You are a superb writer. If only I wasn’t old and living from one social security check to another, I would love to be a paying subscriber. Not asking for sympathy, just explaining my situation. All that being said, I will definitely buy your book. It is, after all, the least I can do. I do so enjoy reading your newsletters. Please keep up your fine work. All my best to you!
Christine: Thank you so much for saying that, and thank you for reading. I am very glad to keep the newsletter free, and I'll do my very best to bring the book to a form that is readily available and affordable. I really appreciate you!
I’d be willing to upgrade to a Founding Membership, but is there no way to do that on a monthly basis? $150 is a substantial chunk. At the risk of sounding canned and blurb-y, I believe your writing is important, and even when this vile world is oppressing mine spirit to the point that I can hardly bear to read your posts, I read them anyway. So: yay for “Very Fine People.” It would just be easier to do $12.50 per month.
Ok. I did the thing with the page and the blue subscribe box to grade to the up of levelness. Why? Because I love The Revisionairies. Also bc you put into words most of the thoughts I have about our current age and the towel darkening agents of hate fear and chaos masquerading as elected officials of a democracy tgey loathecand would love to replace with a White/Christian Nationalist autocratic theocracy all I'm the name of greed for power, money and control over the rest of us.
Just upgraded to Founding. Also, I never open the emails. I read straight from the app, so if more people are like me that might not necessarily be a good indicator of who’s reading you. 😊
No need to send The Revisionists, I’ve bought it already. Good luck with “Very Fine People.”
Yeah, I upgraded too. To be honest, I don't know why I didn't in the first place, except that "Founding Member" sounded kinda fancy and high-falutin', wouldn't want myself to get a swelled head.
Also, I clicked on the "Do Nothing" button just to see what happened, and I am SO relaxed right now.
I wonder why the political fundraising emails I get every day don't include a "Do Nothing" button? It could go to a fake video showing the Second Inauguration of President Trump.
And, please: let's do a NYC book launch at the Half King when this New Thing is out into the world! I would be totally honored to host you, and we'd have a blast.
Exciting news, Andrew. Your wonderful writing deserves a wider audience. I say, go for it!. And, as an existing Founding Member, I'm pleased to follow your direction to "do nothing for now." It is, without a doubt, what I do best.
Ok, I'll upgrade to Founding. Your essays are worth it, and I'd like a copy of Revisionairies anyway.
All I ask is that if this works out, you consider offering for sale an author-read audiobook of your essays that's available through non-Amazon sellers such as libro.fm (which Doctorow uses).
Good luck with this strategy! I hope it works out. I'd love to be able to send a copy of the essays book to my parents.
I signed up as a paying member because I already bought two copies of "The Revisionaries", and I wanted that sweet, sweet, "The Revisionaries" missing scenes material. If I hadn't just switched jobs, the extra $50 would absolutely be worth it. Right now, I'll have to do some math-y stuff to see if it will work out....
Typos and grammar mistakes nearly always stand out to me, and I end up deliberating over whether the author would like them pointed out or not.
I would volunteer to read through and do at least a first pass edit for the most glaring typos and basic problems of English. It’s been awhile since I have had to edit for clarity or conciseness, but I might be able to make some useful suggestions.
If that’s something that would be helpful, feel free to reach out. I appreciate your work and think it deserves to be in book format, though I personally would probably opt for a digital version.
I can't this year but hope to be in a position to in the next. I just checked out your book Revisionaries from the library. Looking forward to reading it! Not sure why it never occurred to me you wrote books as well. Your writings are so original and smart.
Thank you. I can't bump up my subscription right now, but I really do want a book when/if they are available. I'm looking forward to sinking into it when the time comes.

Let me think about it. I can appreciate not wanting to chunk it out.
I’d like that too. I’d love to support all of your work. I’d buy a book.

Ok, yeah, “do nothing” totally worth it 👍
lol, now I have to go click on the “Do Nothing” button
I wonder why the political fundraising emails I get every day don't include a "Do Nothing" button? It could go to a fake video showing the Second Inauguration of President Trump.
Dunno 'bout that. If I was already doing nothing,* wouldn't clicking the button mean I was doing something? Keep it pure, man.
*Obviously...
Upgraded.

I am actually weighing an NYC trip around my planned launch time for book-unrelated reasons. Would love to make it for related reasons.
Man, I would love that.
This is the series: https://www.eventbrite.com/o/half-king-reading-series-at-salmagundi-30950005027 My next events are kind of typical of what I do. It's an extension of Sebastian Junger and Scott Anderson's original series, held at The Half King on 23rd/10th from 2000-2019.
Let's talk! I think you can grab my email from my subscription info? G

Yay! I became a founding member because of your essays. The copy of the book was a nice bonus. I really look forward to the collection!

Also, the "Do Nothing" button was amazing. Thanks for that
Awesome quasi-DIY model. Can't afford to up my very modest monthly contribution but count on me to buy a copy.
I'll buy a box of them.

As I said in my comment when I upgraded, your writing is thought-provoking and engaging and also I’m already in debt so what’s another $150? 😩😂
