As the father of a 16 y/o who told the school bully (a proud outspoken supremacist apparently groomed by Matt Walsh) in no uncertain terms that he is a "homophobic asshole", I thank you so much for this. My child accepted the detention and disciplinary plan they were prescribed because the whole thing was caught on camera. It has been a difficult week, but I'm an incredibly proud dad. You helped me with what you wrote here. Everything you said here is reasonable and logical and thoughtful. We intend to carry the message.

This essay methodically elucidates my sadness whenever I see boomer relatives of mine on social media sharing memes about the good old days when everybody got along. There's a propagandist effort from the supremecist spirit to seed their ideas under the guise of "can't we all just get along" by tricking people into believing it's more to do with nostalgia.

I don't know how to reach them on this point; many of them are not especially right wing, but are susceptible to these mind traps.
