When Obama nominated Garland, my take was that he believed McConnell. I think the media on the left mainly agreed.

I remember articles framing the Garland nomination as Chicago-style political savviness on Obama‘s part, a trap he’d set to reveal Republican hypocrisy. The problem, as you have pointed out many times, is that Republicans don’t care about their own hypocrisy. Indeed it feels like they enjoy and even take pride in it to the extent that it upsets the rest of us.

Obama‘s motives at the time don’t matter much. The media still misses the football every single time.
